American Property Casualty Insurance Association: Wildland Fire Mitigation And Management Commission Releases Report To Address Aerial Equipment Challenges

WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 (TNStalk)(TNSrpt) -- The American Property Casualty Insurance Association issued the following statement on Feb. 13, 2023:

The Wildland Fire Mitigation and Management Commission released its first report to Congress, Aerial Equipment Strategy Report. American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) president and CEO David A. Sampson is a member of the nonpartisan Commission. Sampson released the following statement.

"The Commission's first report to Congress is focused on outlining a strategy to meet aerial firefighting equipment needs through 2030, to help address the complex needs facing wildfire-prone states, localities, federal agencies, and private sector stakeholders. It aims to improve aerial resources for suppressing wildfires and protecting communities, as well as improve the availability of aviation resources for risk mitigation projects to allow for more proactive fuels management."

The second report is scheduled for release in September 2023 and will deliver a comprehensive set of recommendations to address the nation's wildfire crisis. Members of the Commission include representatives from federal agencies, state, local, and Tribal governments, as well as the private sector.
