MISSION, Texas, March 10 -- LIBRE Initiative issued the following news release:
This week two committees in the House of Representatives debated and approved the American Health Care Act, legislation intended to replace the Affordable Care Act.
Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:
"For years supporters of the health care law argued that it should be fixed, yet they never made any serious effort to address its obvious problems. The only solution that was offered was more and more taxpayer money, poured into a failing system. The American people recognized this failure, and made clear it is time to repeal the law, and replace it with real reforms that expand access, respond to consumer demand, and take advantage of market competition to bring down costs.
Congress should listen to the American people, and deliver on the promises they have repeatedly made. It's time to repeal regulations that would dictate to consumers what policies they must purchase. Real reform would put consumers and doctors in charge of health care decisions, and encourage insurers to compete in order to satisfy consumers. The bill that the House is currently considering must move closer to a market-based, consumer-centric approach that expands competition in the marketplace and reduces the control government bureaucrats currently have in making the healthcare decisions of the American people."
