American College, NAHU Announce Education Partnership

PR Newswire

BRYN MAWR, Pa., Dec. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) and The American College of Financial Services are pleased to announce an educational partnership that involves transitioning the Registered Employee Benefits Consultant® (REBC®) and the Chartered Healthcare Consultant® (ChHC®) designations from The American College to NAHU.   Extending a long relationship in professional education, the two organizations will continue to refer students to each other.  The American College of Financial Services will focus on offering credentials and degrees for financial advisors, wealth managers and planners, while NAHU will broaden its focus on employee benefits and healthcare education.

The College will continue to accept new students into the REBC® and ChHC® designation programs until Jan. 1, 2016. Enrolled students will have until June 3 of 2017 to complete these designations with The College. NAHU expects to begin accepting new students into their revised REBC® and ChHC® designation programs by early 2017.

"With the addition of a PhD program in financial and retirement planning and an increased focus on retirement income planning and other financial services education programs, we believe moving the REBC® and ChHC® designations to NAHU is the right thing for the industry," says Dr. Robert R. Johnson, President and CEO of The American College of Financial Services.  "We will work closely with NAHU on this transition to ensure that our students and designation holders are well supported.  We value our relationship with NAHU and other partner organizations and are committed to creating the best possible educational solutions for financial service professionals, whether through courses we provide directly or through programs delivered by other high-quality institutions."

"The constant change of our industry is exciting and the more changes that take place, the more an agent or broker needs to learn in order to stay abreast of the issues that impact daily business," said NAHU CEO Janet Trautwein.  "Our organization has a proven track record for protecting the interests of agents and brokers. Additionally, as a provider of education, NAHU continues to be aggressive with the expansion of courses that meet agent and broker needs. Our legislative vigilance has fostered growth in our industry recognized certification programs. The REBC® and ChHC® are welcomed additions to the credentials we will be offering. We have an excellent relationship with The American College and many other diverse industry partners. Our standard speaks to an example of excellence across multiple disciplines. NAHU's robust professional development tools are offered in the classroom and online through NAHU's learning institute."
