Alliance for Justice Issues Statement on Kavanaugh Confirmation Hearing

WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 -- The Alliance for Justice issued the following statement by President Nan Aron on the conclusion of the confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh:
"This week Brett Kavanaugh faced a test - and he failed. Not just once, but several times, he put his character and integrity in doubt with misleading statements that were immediately contradicted by email evidence from his days in the Bush administration.
"He failed to affirm that he would uphold protections for people with preexisting conditions under the Affordable Care Act; failed to condemn President Trump's attacks on courts and our justice system; failed to instill confidence that he believes the President is above the law; and failed to affirm that he believes Roe was rightly decided.
"And let me be absolutely clear on that last point; after this week there is no credible way that Senators Collins and Murkowski, or any Senator who claims to support women's reproductive rights and health care for their fellow Americans, can vote for this nominee."
