The American Insurance Association (AIA) congratulates its members on scoring well in the most recent Ceres Insurer Climate Risk Disclosure Survey Report & Scorecard. Ceres recently released its 2016 Insurer Climate Risk Disclosure Survey Report & Scorecard based on the 2014 National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) climate risk disclosure survey results. AIA's members have demonstrated strength in several key areas of the report: (a) engaging regularly with their Boards of Directors on climate issues; (b) addressing enterprise-wide climate risk management; (c) and developing stakeholder engagement strategies to reduce climate-related risks. Our members continue to exhibit a comprehensive understanding of climate change coupled with specific actions to manage their climate risks.
Ceres is a national organization which advocates for adoption of sustainable business practices. A copy of the report may be found here and a brief statement from Adam E. Kerns, AIA Assistant General Counsel follows:
"AIA wants to acknowledge the continued leadership exhibited by our members in the area of climate risk. They have devoted significant efforts to adequately respond to the NAIC's climate risk disclosure survey. The report highlights the time and energy insurers have dedicated to developing sustainable business practices. Insurers remain committed to working with regulators and policyholders in addressing their climate risks."
