Workers Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California Selects Tata Consultancy Services [Professional Services Close – Up]

Tata Consultancy Services, an IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization, announced it has partnered with the Workers Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California, using TCS' delivery and technology to develop and rollout WCIRB's Star operating system.

In a release, the Company noted that this system will modernize and fundamentally transform the WCIRB's interactions with insurers and serve as an enabling platform to deliver on its new business strategy.

The second phase includes policy data-management tools that will enable electronic policy data reporting for insurers, and the initial release of Star Online, a new service for carriers to manage USR data submissions, correspondence and more. With this deployment, the WCIRB will begin decommissioning its mainframe system and, in conjunction with the online services provided via Star Online, will be positioned to provide new operational efficiencies.

This launch culminates a three-year effort to replace WCIRB's mainframe system. This significant and complex project was delivered on time and on budget.

In the fourth quarter of 2013, Star Online will be further enhanced to provide licensed agents and brokers with free access to experience modifications, WCIRB assigned classifications, and X-Mod Direct automated alerts. Agents and brokers of record will also be able to download experience rating worksheets and classification inspection reports for their policyholders.

Enrollment for the Star Online system has begun.
