Woman faces several charges after crash [Telegraph-Herald (Dubuque, IA)]

A Peosta, Iowa, woman was arrested Friday morning after police said she fled officers, crashed into a yard and then hit a telephone pole.

Mackenzie A. Kissell, 21, was arrested on charges of felony eluding; operating while intoxicated, second offense; interference with official acts; failure to maintain control; wrong way on a one- way street; no insurance and failure to identify.

According to Dubuque police, an officer stopped Kissell at 1:51 a.m. Friday at 14th and Main streets after she apparently drove the wrong way on Central

Avenue at 14th Street. The officer reported Kissell seemed impaired and refused to exit the vehicle.

Kissell then started to drive off, with the officer breaking the driver-side window to attempt to stop her, the report states. Kissell fled westbound up Loras Boulevard at a high rate of speed, pursued by officers.

She crashed her vehicle into the yard at 1610 Loras Blvd., hitting bushes and lawn decorations, and backed into a telephone pole as she attempted to drive away again, according to the report. Police said she also tried to flee on foot, but she was arrested and taken to Dubuque County jail.
