Meadia Heights Golf Club has hired Chad Bortzfield as executive chef. Bortzfield, of Manheim, most recently was head chef at The Golf Club at Felicita in Harrisburg. Before that, he worked at The Loft, The Restaurant at Doneckers and The Black Horse Restaurant.

He is a Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts graduate.

Kunzler & Co. has promoted Jim Wherley to vice president of sales.

Wherley previously was director of retail sales at the Lancaster meat company, a position he assumed in 2009. Before Kunzler, he held several executive sales positions at Hanover Foods.

Wherley holds a bachelor's degree from York College. A resident of Hanover, he currently is relocating to Lancaster.

ELA Group has hired Lawrence L. Lawyer II as a senior project manager in the firm's civil/municipal engineering department.

Lawyer will be based at ELA Group'sLititz office but also will provide engineering support to its other location in State College.

A Manheim resident, he most recently was vice president of Delta Development Group in Mechanicsburg. He has a bachelor's degree from Penn State University.

Lancaster nonprofit Tabor Community Services has named Jane Hoober Peifer to its board of directors.

Peifer, of Lancaster, retired in 2013 as pastor of Blossom Hill Mennonite Church in Manheim Township, where she had served since 1999.

She has a master of divinity degree from Eastern Mennonite Seminary.

Andrew S. Rusniak, a member of the estate planning and business counseling practice group at law firm McNees Wallace & Nurick's Lancaster office, has been named to the board of the Lancaster County Estate Planning Council. He will serve through 2017.

Rusniak, of Lancaster, has a bachelor's degree from George Mason University and law degrees from Dickinson School of Law and Georgetown University Law Center.

Haller Enterprises, with headquarters in Lititz, has hired Dave Hessen as its marketing director.

Hessen has a bachelor's degree from Kutztown University and more than 20 years of marketing and advertising experience.

A Lancaster resident, he most recently was director of creative operations at Hoffman Publishing in Reading.

High Concrete Group has promoted J. Phoenix Rann to vice president of operations. He joined High in 2012 and most recently was a plant manager.

Renn, of Ephrata, has a bachelor's degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from Marquette University.
