University of Colorado Hospital Physicians Utilizes DocASAP

The schedules and profiles of primary care, OB/GYN, and other specialty physicians affiliated with University of Colorado Hospital are now available with the DocASAP scheduling platform, greatly simplifying appointment bookings for healthcare consumers in the greater Denver area, the hospital announced.

According to a release, DocASAP is an element of efforts to streamline consumer access to care, providing a one-stop website where UCH doctors can be quickly located by specialty and insurance accepted, sorted by availability and location. Physician details include reviews, credentials and office directions. Patients viewing this information can immediately book confirmed appointments, including the first available. Consumers gain more immediate access to care, and providers are better able to fill schedules and reduce no-shows and cancellations.

"We're always looking at ways to make the patient experience at University of Colorado Hospital quicker, easier and more convenient, and that includes scheduling the appointment," said Bill Sonn, University of Colorado Health senior director of marketing, communications and media relations. "Our pilot with the DocASAP tool promises to help not only our patients but our physicians make the experience even better."

Quicker access to care is especially important in metropolitan areas. A recent study by Merritt Hawkins & Associates found that the average wait time for five specialties in Denver was more than 19 days, roughly midpoint of the 15 cities surveyed. "Reducing wait times is essential to patient engagement - consumers are more likely to receive timely care when they have quick and convenient access," said health economist and management consultant Jane Sarasohn-Kahn. "Systems like DocASAP satisfy that need while helping physicians' offices fill capacity that might otherwise go unused."

Initial DocASAP implementations included New York City and Philadelphia, with additional metropolitan areas coming online in the near future. "University of Colorado Hospital is at the forefront of streamlining care access while assisting physicians with care coordination," said DocASAP founder and CEO Puneet Maheshwari.
