Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc. Subsidiary UPCIC to Offer Homeowners Insurance Through GEICO Agents in North Carolina
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 09/01/10 -- Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc. (the Company or Universal) (NYSE Amex: UVE), a vertically integrated insurance holding company, announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company (UPCIC) has entered into an agreement with GEICO to make UPCIC's personal residential insurance products available through 137 GEICO agents licensed in North Carolina. Through GEICO Insurance Agency, Inc., GEICO offers its customers opportunities to obtain insurance products from unaffiliated insurers that complement GEICO's auto insurance policies. The agreement between UPCIC and GEICO allows GEICO Insurance Agency's licensed insurance agents to offer UPCIC's range of residential insurance products to GEICO customers in North Carolina, including homeowners', condominium unit owners' and tenants' policies.
