Sponsorship Will Help Continue USO-Metro’s Efforts to Lift the Spirits of Troops and their Families
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- In 2011, close to 22,000 military troops and their family members visited the USO airport lounge at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to relax, grab a bite to eat and enjoy themselves before and after flights. The USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro) and GEICO have teamed up to ensure military members and their families will continue to have access to these valuable services through a new partnership.
Located in Terminal A, the USO-Metro airport lounge offers a technology center as well as wireless internet access, a comfortable seating area with a large screen TV and a snack bar. Open 16 hours a day, seven days a week, the lounge is staffed by 180 volunteers who welcome service members with a smile and assist with any travel-related questions they might have.
“GEICO is proud to support our troops and their families by sponsoring the USO lounge at Reagan Airport,” said Mike Baker, GEICO’s director of military marketing. “The USO is very important to U.S. servicemen and servicewomen, and a USO airport lounge is a little piece of home for those heading to or returning from deployments.”
GEICO is a long-time supporter of the United States armed forces and USO-Metro. Tony Nicely, president of GEICO, is a member of USO-Metro’s Honorary Board Committee.
“USO airport lounges provide a relaxing place for our troops and their families to grab a snack, watch a little TV or even play a video game,” said Elaine Rogers, president and CEO of USO of Metropolitan Washington. “Our lounges serve as a home-away-from-home for our troops and we couldn’t provide this valuable service for them without the incredible support of sponsors like GEICO.”
