Tunstall Americas Receives Innovation Award from Rhode Island Governor’s Workforce Board

PR Web

Pawtucket, RI (PRWEB) May 22, 2014

Tunstall Americas was awarded the prestigious "Innovation Award" at the recent Rhode Island Governor's Workforce Board annual meeting. The award is given to Rhode Island companies who are committed to contributing to the economic development of Rhode Island. Casey Pittock, President and CEO, accepted the award on behalf of Tunstall.

During the awards ceremony Tunstall employees Toni Lynn Bonadie of Pawtucket, RI and Jayne Murphy of Warwick, RI expressed their gratitude to the Honorable Governor Lincoln Chafee, the RI Workforce Board and to Tunstall Americas.

Pittock noted, "I witnessed an entire audience melting, tearing up, and expressing powerful emotions when Jayne and Toni shared their stories. Even the Governor was clearly moved by their talks. Having been in this business now for 19 years, it struck me again at that instant, the remarkable difference we make in people's lives – whether our customers or our own."

Jayne Murphy shared her story of feeling undervalued, having difficulty finding work, and wondering what her future held. When she met Seth at a Department of Labor and Training event in RI, it instantly became clear to her that she could make a difference for our customers and, by extension, for herself. Murphy said, "The whole experience has been nothing but positive for me. I'm so happy to have gone through this training and found a way to feel valued and contribute to helping others."

Toni Lynn Bonadie spoke of the very difficult circumstances she found herself in. As she said to the audience, "I was one step from homelessness." She then attended a DLT program, and again, Seth was there and met with Toni. Like Jayne, she found an immediate pull to work with Tunstall where she could perform work that truly made a difference in people's lives. And, her own challenging life situation could quickly improve. In Toni's own words, "I feel like I'm a success story for the RI Governor's Workforce program. Because of the efforts of others – Tunstall, the State of Rhode Island and the City of Pawtucket, I'm working again! Thank you so much!"

The Governor's Workforce Board partners Rhode Island businesses with prospective employees. Tunstall worked closely with the Board in designing a training program. The program provides employees with the training and skills necessary to succeed at Tunstall.

Over the course of 2013 and into 2014 (and continuing), Tunstall's new Rhode Island facility was and is closely involved with various state and local hiring and training programs, led by Seth Muraskin, Tunstall's VP of Human Resources. Seth worked tirelessly to explore the programs offered by Rhode Island, attend job fairs, establish training programs, and recruit and hire over a large workforce.
Tunstall Americas made a commitment to bring 250 jobs to Rhode Island by April 2014. As of today, Tunstall has hired OVER 300 employees. They have also spent over six million dollars on renovations and technology using only local contractors to implement the build out of the 85 thousand square foot facility at 100 Freight Street where they currently house their North American data and operation center.

Tunstall operates two state-of-the-art contact centers located in Long Island City, NY and Pawtucket, RI where they provide high-touch personal remote safety monitoring services to customers in all 50 states.
