The Ohlson Group Affiliates With A Full-Service Investment Bank

March 9, 2006
Indianapolis, IN - Raymond J. Ohlson, CLU, President and CEO of The Ohlson Group, an national insurance marketing organization based in Indianapolis, Indiana (www.ohlsongroup.com), has been appointed Managing Director of Insurance Services for the Riderwood Group, Inc., of Towson, Maryland. Riderwood, a full-service investment bank and a member of NASD, SIPC, and MSRB, was founded in 1985 and is located in the Washington/Baltimore corridor (www.riderwood.com).
Since its inception, Riderwood has been a full-service brokerage with the ability to provide its clients with advice and transactions in the complete spectrum of investment products from money market funds to annuities and equities to fixed-income securities, both taxable and tax-exempt. In addition, Riderwood is a national middle-market investment bank that is a registered investment advisor through their wholly-owned subsidiary Inner Harbor Asset Management.
"The affiliation between Raymond Ohlson and Riderwood adds an important dimension to both companies," says Mitchell Fillet, Riderwood’s CEO. "With the current changes in the securities industry and the planning needs of the burgeoning "boomer" market, we needed to align ourselves with a best-of-breed, insurance-based marketing organization that offers full financial planning services for its advisors and their clients. We found precisely that in Ray Ohlson and The Ohlson Group!"
Mr. Ohlson’s service in the insurance industry - both in the field and as president of a large insurance company - speaks for itself. Many, however, may not be aware that Mr. Ohlson has been a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) as well as a registered representative having his Series 7 since the mid-1970s. "Meeting the Riderwood professionals was like a breath of fresh air," Ohlson says. "They see insurance-based planning as an opportunity not an adversarial role. I’m impressed with Riderwood’s integrity, dedication to service, and commitment to training for all of our current and future Registered Representatives. This new strategic alliance will pay dividends to us all!"
Today, Riderwood is a group of very experienced professionals focused on providing investment banking services to a sophisticated client base. At the same time, the firm has continued to provide a broad range of investment services to its clients, private and public, retail and institutional. Though headquartered in Baltimore, Riderwood has plans to open branches in other wealth centers and is registered to conduct business in most of the population centers in the US.
