Proquest LLC
What physicians can expect when they are sued for malpractice is detailed in a video released recently by The Doctors Company, a physician-owned medical malpractice insurer.
In a release, the Company said that the video, the first in a series that will showcase actual claims, features Darlene M. Go, MD, a cardiologist with Orlando Heart Specialists, PA, in Windermere, Florida. Dr. Go discusses the claim that was made against her and how the support of her insurer throughout the entire process helped her win the case.
In the video, Dr. Go's attorney, Richard S. Womble, of Rissman, Barrett, Hurt, Donahue & McLain, PA, in Orlando, Florida, outlines why Dr. Go had a strong case. The video also features her claims specialist, Lisette Fernandez, who discusses the importance of selecting the best representation and top expert witnesses.
"Our extensive database of claims indicates that physicians, on average, spend over four years of a 40-year career fighting malpractice claims," said Laura Curtin, vice president, claims compliance officer, The Doctors Company. "Since many physicians will face a malpractice suit sometime in their career, we are pleased to provide these firsthand accounts that detail what physicians experience and how The Doctors Company helps to achieve a successful outcome."
