Nathan Hill has been promoted to hunting product line manager at Midway USA. Hill joined the MidwayUSA contact center in February 2010 as a supervisor. In his new position, he will be responsible for the sales, margins, product mix and product information related to the hunting product category. He has a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Northwest Missouri State University and a master's degree in philosophy from Miami University.

Landmark Bank has announced the following promotions: Janice Campbell to bank officer. Campbell, who is currently the manager of the real estate loan processing department, is responsible for overseeing the processing, underwriting, closing, investor delivery, funding and shipping of real estate loan transactions company-wide. She holds an associate degree in accounting from DeVry University and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration from Columbia College. She has been employed with Landmark since October 2001 and was awarded the prestigious "Banker of the Year" award in 2006. Alisha Moreland to bank officer. As the marketing specialist, Moreland manages the creative development and graphic art production for the bank. She joined the bank in November. Reed Murray to assistant branch manager at the Range Line location. His primary role will be to manage the day-to-day operations of the teller line, including staff development, and act as the primary customer service representative, responsible for all new account openings. Murray studied criminal justice at Columbia College and has been with Landmark since October 2009. Joe Ritter to bank officer. Ritter, the manager of the motor banking center on Garth Avenue, is responsible for new account development, personal lending, customer relations and daily operational activities of the banking center. He also serves as a business services representative for business customers in Columbia. Ritter joined the bank in June 2006 after attending Westminster College.

Rosie Newberry, a member of KOMU 8's Live Doppler 8 First Alert Weather Team, recently began serving as the station's daytime weathercaster. Newberry will provide forecasts and weather information during KOMU 8 News at noon and 5 p.m. Newberry is pursuing a master's degree in meteorology. She started with KOMU 8 in 2010.

Brian Myers has joined The Callaway Bank team as a branch operations manager at the West Broadway facility. Myers is responsible for directing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the activities of sales and support operations in the facility to ensure bank and regulatory policies and procedures are followed. He also supervises all operational employees assigned to the branch. Myers earned a bachelor's degree in business from Columbia College.

KUDOS

Jim Riek, KOMU 8 News anchor, was honored with a resolution from the House of Representatives on Sept. 12. The award recognizes his work covering the 2011 Joplin tornado and its aftereffects in the documentary "32 Minutes in May." Riek and former KOMU 8 meteorologist Michelle Bogowith worked on the documentary together for nearly a year. Bogowith also was presented with the honor. Riek and Bogowith also received the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi award and a regional Edward R. Murrow award earlier this year for their work on the documentary.

The Callaway Bank has announced the appointment of Caroline Gower as advisory board chairwoman and Travis McGee as vice chairman of the advisory board. Gower, a member of the advisory board since 1999, owns and operates Caroline & Co. Staffing Services in Columbia. McGee is the owner of Certified Realty Inc. and THM Investments in Columbia.

The Central Missouri chapter of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters has announced its board and committee chairs for 2012- 13. Officers are Monica Salmons, president, Missouri Employers Mutual; Jon Erickson, vice president, Columbia Insurance Group; Lori Meyer, secretary, Shelter Insurance Cos.; and Monica Richey Pfeiffer, treasurer, State Farm Insurance Cos. Directors are Louesa Runge Fine, State Farm Insurance; Matt Moore, Shelter Insurance; and John Ramsey, State Farm Insurance.

Visionworks Marketing Group was awarded an American Graphic Design Award for work on the 2012 American Heart and Stroke Association Dr. Hugh E. Stephenson Heart and Stroke Ball Invitation Suite. The award from Graphic Design USA honors excellence for creative professionals.

The Columbia Fire Department has been presented with a Life Safety Achievement Award for 2011 by the NASFM Fire Research & Education Foundation in partnership with the Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Co. Since 1994, the Life Safety Achievement Award has recognized local fire prevention efforts that have contributed to reducing the number of lives lost in residential fires. The Columbia Fire Department qualified for the award in 2011 because it recorded zero fire deaths in structures or a reduction by at least 10 percent during the year. In addition, the department was able to demonstrate the existence of an active and effective fire prevention program and a clear commitment to reducing the number of fires in the homes in its community.

Ashley Grant and Sheri Klinzman, district managers for Cost Cutters & Supercuts of Mid-Missouri, were presented with the National Cost Cutters District Manager of the Year Award at the company's annual Franchise Convention in Minneapolis. The award is presented annually to a district manager or group of district managers that has excelled at growing the Cost Cutters brand during the previous year. Adam Crews, Cost Cutters & Supercuts franchisee, was presented with the Supercuts Mentor/Coaching Award at the convention. The award is presented annually to a franchisee in the Supercuts system that has shown a commitment to helping other Supercuts franchisees succeed.
