Susquehanna Bancshares Inc. said Monday it has hired Kevin Burns as chief risk officer and executive vice president.
Among his duties, Burns will oversee risk management, security and corporate compliance, the bank holding company said. Burns becomes part of the company's executive team and reports to the risk committee of Susquehanna's board.
Burns most recently worked as director of governance, regulatory and risk management for Deloitte & Touche's banking and securities practice and has more than 18 years of experience in the field, Susquehanna said.
Given Susquehanna's growth in recent years and the increasing importance of risk management in the banking industry, "it made sense to expand the leadership team of our risk management department," spokesman Stephen Trapnell said.
The previous chief risk officer, Ed Wydock, continues to serve as senior vice president in Susquehanna's risk management department, Trapnell said.
Based in Lititz, Susquehanna Bancshares is the parent company of Susquehanna Bank.
It has assets of about $18 billion and more than 240 branches.
