McClatchy-Tribune Information Services

Oct. 02--MOULTRIE -- Police tracked down one accused shoplifter on Tuesday and arrested a second who had been detained at a Moultrie retailer, while two shoplifters from a third incident avoided capture.

Both of the arrests involved reported thefts at Walmart, 641 Veterans Parkway S., the Moultrie Police Department said.

A store employee reported to police that a man who was later identified as Aenyetta William concealed merchandise in his pants at about 4 p.m.. The man later threw down a Balaklava face hat valued at $6.86.

An employee followed William out and saw him run toward Fifth Avenue Southeast, police said.

An officer patrolling the area saw William jump a fence and he was later arrested in the parking lot of a car dealership.

William, 22, 5575 Glory Lane, Camilla, was charged with theft by shoplifting, duty to obey police officer and probation violation. At about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, the retailer reported that a woman left the store after making a purchase but not paying for $64 worth of merchandise that she had concealed in a purse.

After police arrived a store employee searched the purse and removed the stolen property.

Shirley Kinchen Hall, 59, 1400 Fourth Ave. N.E., was charged with theft by shoplifting.

In the third shoplifting incident, Dollar General, 1908 First Ave. S.E., reported that two males came in the store. While one acted as a lookout the second stuffed a T-shirt down his pants.

The two men walked to the Waffle House parking lot, where they got in a red Honda Civic and drove away. The stolen shirt was valued at $10.

In other arrests:

--Shabrika Hamliton, 23, 182 Third Ave. S.W., was charged Tuesday with disorderly conduct.

Hamilton was arrested after Channell Wright, Moultrie, reported that she was attacked with pepper spray.

During an investigation of the incident multiple witnesses told police that Hamilton was the person who used the chemical, spraying it in the direction of several other people.

Hamilton told police that she grabbed the chemical spray after she was threatened. She later gave a different account, that she exited her apartment with the spray after she was woken by someone entering her residence.

Hamilton tested positive for alcohol and was arrested.

--Robert Lamar Curry, 37, 290 Sanford Heights, Thomasville, was charged Tuesday with probation violation.
