Scholarship fund created for Wells Fargo exec who died on business trip [The Charlotte Observer]

Aug. 16--A scholarship fund is being created in memory of a Wells Fargo executive who died this week, family members said.

Anne Doss, who headed Wells Fargo's personal and small-business insurance division, was on a business trip for the bank when she died in a Sofitel hotel in Bloomington, a city south of Minneapolis. She was 56.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office has determined that Doss died Wednesday morning from apparent natural causes. The office said Friday the specific cause of her death is being investigated by the Bloomington Police Department.

Kristin Mountcastle, 31, Doss' daughter, said the fund is being established through the Women Initiating and Nurturing Growth Through Scholarships program, also known as WINGS.

San Francisco-based Wells, which has its East Coast headquarters in Charlotte, also has a significant presence in Minnesota, where the bank operates insurance call centers. Doss was there for strategy meetings, her husband said.

Doss' death shocked her family, who said Friday that she exercised every day and had just passed a physical examination about two months ago.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Road. A reception "to celebrate Anne's life" will follow at North Carolina Dance Theatre, 701 N. Tryon St., the family said.
