Price’s Crab House fined; Sizzling Bombay, El Rodeo licenses approved by Harford liquor board

April 24--Price's Crab House in Havre de Grace was fined by Harford County'sLiquor Control Board Wednesday, while Sizzling Bombay and El Rodeo Mexican Bar & Grill got some conditional approvals for a new licensee and a renewed liquor license.

The owner of Price's was fined $250 after the liquor board found he failed to notify the board of pertinent restaurant changes and failed to cooperate with board members.

He had also been originally charged with failing to serve full-course meals at least twice daily and failing to tell the board that the business would be up for sale.

Mark Hasenei, who has been with Price's since 2008, told the board there is no intention to sell the business and said he never owned the property.

He explained that the restaurant had to close unexpectedly after pipes burst several times during the winter and repairs had to be made.

"This has been a brutally cold winter and Price's is in an old house," he said, apologizing to the board for taking their time.

Sizzling Bombay, El Rodeo

Bel Air's Sizzling Bombay restaurant got a new liquor licensee after the board had a long discussion about past officers and some outstanding health department requirements.

Yashoda Gurung was approved to be the new officer, pending providing a workers' compensation certificate of insurance and proof of resolving health department requirements within 30 days.

El Rodeo Mexican Bar & Grill, on Edgewood Road, was granted a temporary renewal of its license through May 28, pending certain conditions.

El Rodeo owner Neel Kamal was asked to pay outstanding taxes, provide a schedule of work hours for El Rodeo and provide confirmation from Baltimore County's liquor control board that he no longer has an interest in El Rodeo.

The restaurant's license was suspended at the start of the month after being fined several times and being accused of failing to inform the board of changing its signs and possibly business concept.

Also at Wednesday's liquor board meeting:

--La Tolteca of Aberdeen was approved to host a Cinco de Mayo event on May 5 on its parking lot.

--An outdoor smoking area was approved for Pool N' Pints in Aberdeen.

--Emil Illian was approved as a licensee at Edgewood Station.

-- One-day beer and wine licenses were approved for two new applicants, an Aug. 26 auction for the Harford Jewish Center and a May 8 networking event for Harford County Chamber of Commerce.

--One-day beer and wine licenses were approved for a May 9 barn dance for Harford County 4-H Clubs, a May 9 softball tournament for Cal Ripken Foundation, a May 10 concert for Harford Community College Foundation, a May 10 retirement party for Harford Day School and a May 17 spaghetti dinner for St. Francis de Sales Church.
