PREP ROUNDUP | Thursday, Aug. 28: Poellinger leads Aquinas past Logan

Aug. 29--Emily Poellinger did a little bit of everything for the Aquinas High School volleyball team Thursday night. The senior recorded 17 kills and 14 digs to lead the Blugolds to a 25-18, 25-15, 25-12 MVC victory over Logan at Reinhart Athletic Complex.

The Blugolds (1-0) also received 29 assists and five aces from senior as they beat the Rangers for the eighth straight time.

Logan (0-1) was led by Jordyn Kleman's seven kills.

Central 3, Tomah 0

TOMAH -- Abbi Klos made 19 digs, and Faith Skinner added six kills to lead the Red Raiders (1-0) to a 25-16, 25-17, 25-15 season-opening MVC win over Tomah.

The Timberwolves (0-1) were led by Jamie Gaarder, Kelsey Buttner and Mikayla Richards, who had four kills apiece.

BOYS SOCCER

Onalaska 3, West Salem 0

ONALASKA -- Djarki Sidurdkrson pulled off the hat trick for Onalaska scoring two of his three goals in the first three minutes of the game. Mitchell Schallar assisted Sidurdkrson on the first two goals while Nick Havlicek assisted on the third goal in the 27th minute.

West Salem's goalie Hunter Priebe had 11 saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

La Crescent 2, Stewartville 0

STEWARTVILLE, Minn. -- Emmalee Finn and Kayla Nelson each scored in the second to lift the Lancers (4-0) past Stewartville. Finn used her fourth goal of the season to put La Crescent on the board and Nelson added some insurance 12 minutes later. It was Nelson's second goal of the season.

GIRLS GOLF

MVC

ONALASKA -- Tomah's Carly Clay shot a 4-over-par 41 and led her team to a victory at Coulee Golf Bowl.

Tomah combined for a 185 to hold off Onalaska (187) and Holmen (191). Holmen's Courtney Bergum shot a 43 to finish second individually, and Kayla Freng placed third with a 44. Tomah's Devyn Schreier and Onalaska's Karli Breiling tied for fourth with 45s.

CROSS COUNTRY

Stewartville Invitational

STEWARTVILLE, Minn. -- La Crescent's Zack Emery took home medalist honors with a finishing time of 17:38.8 and teammate Matt Steiger placed eighth with a time of 18:34.1 to lead the Lancers to a third-place finish with 94 points. Jordan (Minn.) took home the team title with a score of 67.

Cole Fechner (18:55.5) took 12th, Andrew Lechnir (19:40.7) placed 29th and Sam Boudreau (20:20.7) placed 44th to round out the scoring for La Crescent.

Bangor's Ben Olson finished 64th with a time of 21:56.5 and the Cardinals captured 15th with 410 points.

La Crescent's girls teams also had a good showing as the Lancers placed fourth with a score of 136. Sylvia Lechnir (15:41.2) was runner-up and Chantelle Wernecke (17:09.8) placed 28th to lead the way.
