New Jersey Patent Attorney Stuart M. Goldstein Helps Client Receive Patent on Design for Camera Embedded within Firearm that Shoots Evidentiary Photos as the Weapon Fires

New Jersey Patent Attorney, Stuart M. This patent’s innovative design, invented by Hal Fidlow of Cranford, New Jersey, includes a self-contained miniature camera that mounts compactly and discretely within the firearm. At the instant the gun is fired, the impact of the explosion within the weapon not only compels the bullet towards its target, but also activates the camera’s operation. The camera instantly records the events, storing, in memory, a closely-spaced sequential stream of high speed digital photographs or videoclips of the person, object or scene at which the firearm is pointed, at the precise moment the weapon is fired.

The benefits to those who use firearms in the execution of their duties – local, state and federal law enforcement personnel, as well as the military and private security sector – are invaluable and numerous. Photos and videos taken by this integrated camera system will serve as evidence of firearm incidents, providing definitive, factual answers to many investigative questions such as whether the discharge of the weapon was appropriate; what events dictated the use of the weapon; and who was present at the scene and what were they doing. Such inquiries no longer will have to rely on inconsistent, conflicting or unreliable witness testimonies or unverifiable information.

The self-contained recoil camera system of the invention is dropped into the barrel of a recoil rod cavity of a firearm, replacing the standard recoil spring guide. Previous to this invention, there were no similar successful designs that could effectively and efficiently operate within the recoil rod cavity and also proceed to record and report on actual events upon the discharge of the firearm.

This patent design features many advantages to the user. The system does not alter the outward configuration or operation of the firearm. The firearm fits into its existing holster and has the same weight and balance. It maintains the accuracy, safety and reliability of the weapon. There are no additional controls or switches. The operation of the system is not apparent to the user or any other person that upon discharge of the weapon the camera is activated and a series of photographs are taken and stored automatically. In addition, it allows for the use of current technology to modify existing handguns and other firearms by simply replacing the original recoil spring guide assembly.
