Nevada Dems: Over 1 Million Nevadans with Pre-Existing Conditions No Longer Being Denied Coverage Thanks to ACA

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 5 -- The Nevada Democratic Party issued the following news release:
Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, 1,157,000 Nevadans with pre-existing conditions will no longer have to worry about being denied healthcare coverage or paying higher premiums because of their condition, including 162,000 children. Nationwide, 129 million Americans can no longer be discriminated against due to a pre-existing condition.
Unfortunately, Republicans in Washington continue to try to take us back to a time when private insurance companies could discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions like: cancer, diabetes, or simply being a woman. House Republicans have voted over 35 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and even shut down the federal government in their efforts to take away Nevadans' access to affordable healthcare.
"Over one million Nevadans with pre-existing conditions no longer have to fear being denied health insurance just because they get sick thanks to the Affordable Care Act," said Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Roberta Lange. "Unfortunately, instead of focusing on making healthcare more affordable, Republicans like Dean Heller, Joe Heck, and Mark Amodei want to put private insurance companies back in charge of healthcare. We saw firsthand just how far Republicans would go in their efforts to deny Nevadans access to affordable healthcare when they shut down the government months ago, and Nevadans will remember next November."
