Neidhart planning to run for state senate [The Moore American, Norman, Okla.]

Feb. 29--MOORE -- Local businessman Bob Neidhart has announced plans to seek the Republican nomination in state Senate District 15.

"Because of my desire for helping people, I have been encouraged to run for office," Neidhart said. "A common man with common sense."

Neidhart is a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He and his wife, Sherry, have lived in Norman for many years and their children attended Norman schools.

He served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division in the 1960s and was honorably discharged from the military. He worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio. He enrolled in college, using his GI bill benefits.

"It was at this time my second child was born. I left the factory to pursue another career and was transferred back to Oklahoma," Neidhart said. He entered the insurance business and became an agent in 1975 for Allstate and two years later for Farmers Insurance.

"Being a person who likes to help people, it was a perfect fit and 35 years later, I still love it."

Neidhart owns Neidhart Insurance Solutions in south Oklahoma City. He never finished his college degree but said his degree "is in common sense."

"I have worked two jobs at times to feed my family. Hard work has never scared me; so you see, I am a common man like most Okie's. We know common sense is needed in the (capital)."

He proposes to address illegal immigration, bring back respect for laws and law enforcement, stop the waste of taxpayers money, work to set up a more fair and easy tax system and put victims' rights first before those of criminals.
