NGAUS, USAA Announce Relationship

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) June 30, 2011

USAA and the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS) have joined forces to offer a credit card from USAA Bank that helps fund NGAUS programs.

The alliance now offers NGAUS’ nearly 49,000 members the opportunity to apply for the National Guard Association of the United States USAA Rewards™ World MasterCard®, which will help fund the association’s efforts and programs with each new account opened.

“USAA has long been a strong supporter of NGAUS programs and events,” said retired Maj. Gen. Gus L. Hargett Jr., NGAUS president. “This new relationship is an example of our mutual commitment to the financial well-being of the men and women of the National Guard and their families.”

As an organization devoted to promoting the interests of U.S. military members, the alliance with NGAUS is part of USAA’s ongoing effort to help facilitate the financial security of members of the U.S. military and veterans and their families.

Someone who appreciates the value of USAA membership is longtime member retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Daniel James III, former Air National Guard director.

“I’ve been a proud USAA member for more than 40 years and the thing that has always impressed me the most is their speed to accommodate my needs,” said James. “Last year, I had a devastating house fire that displaced my entire family for many months. Throughout the entire ordeal, USAA was always there by my side. Every military member owes it to themselves to at least check out USAA.”

About NGAUS
Created in 1878 to provide unified National Guard representation in Washington, the association includes nearly 49,000 current or former Guard officers. In their first productive meeting after Reconstruction, militia officers from the North and South formed the association with the goal of obtaining better equipment and training by petitioning Congress for more resources. Today, 132 years later, NGAUS has the same mission. Each of the 54 states and territories belong to the association, and state membership symbolizes the mandate for NGAUS to represent all of the National Guard: officers and enlisted alike. NGAUS provides states and members unified representation before Congress and the Executive Branch by seeking modern equipment, training, missions and personnel benefits for the Army and Air National Guard. For more information about NGAUS, visit http://www.ngaus.org.

About USAA
USAA provides insurance, banking, investment and retirement products and services 8.2 million members of the U.S. military and their families. Known for its legendary commitment to its members, USAA is consistently recognized for outstanding service, employee well-being and financial strength. USAA membership is open to all who are serving or have honorably served our nation in the U.S. military – and their families.
