NACM Grad School Program Continues Rich Tradition of Education, Networking

More than two dozen professionals trekked to the picturesque Ivy League campus of Dartmouth College as firstor second-year students, in NACM's Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management (GSCFM). What they came for was an intense, executive-level education in risk management, business strategy and advanced financial analysis and other topics, and what they experienced was GSCFM s unique networking opportunities. Even those who believed that past students may have exaggerated the level of relationships built during the program characterized it as an opportunity unmatched by other conferences and learning experiences.

"We were here for a reason [the education], but the friendships made while we were here were priceless in my eyes," said firstyear student Rajkumar Mandlewala, CBA. "I think the networking that happens is one of the best parts of the program." Second-year student Bob Lewis expressed a similar sentiment and believes new contacts will help him do his job better. "I learned that I have a lot of new coaches and trusted advisors that I can pick up the phone and ask for their opinion."

Students took away varying highlights from the programming. Whereas Mandlewala spoke of how much he also enjoyed immediate improvements he made in his presentations skills, first-year student Roseanne Genise said learning more about the technical side of credit ratios and cash flow analysis may have been the most helpful. Second-year student Stephanie Dick found the most help in something not credit specific: "I got insight into my leadership style. It kind of gave me a plan for how to be not just a better employee for those that I work for, but also a better leader for those who work under me."

The GSCFM Student Leadership Award, determined by a second-year attendee vote, went to the always-outgoing Jay Snyder, ICCE who is also a member of the NACM-National Board of Directors, representing the Central Region.</p>

NACM thanks all of this year's attendees for their spirit, effort and commitment to excelling in credit. Congratulations to the GSCFM Class of 2014. To learn more about the 2015 program, please visit http://www.nacm.org/graduate-schoolgsfcm.html. 1
