McGee is the New Finance VP

ST. CLOUD, Minn., Nov. 11 -- St. Cloud State University issued the following news release:

Tammy McGee begins work next week as vice president for finance and administration at St. Cloud State.

McGee has been vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer at Augsburg College, Minneapolis, since 2010. She has more than 20 years of experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, project management, team development and regulatory compliance.

The Maple Grove resident is a 1981 alumna of St. Cloud State with a degree in finance/economics.

She will lead a division that includes business services, facilities, human resources, bookstore operations, food services and public safety. McGee also holds an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and has held a senior professional in human resources certificate. Her appointment is effective Nov. 18.

"The faculty and staff of St. Cloud State and the St. Cloud area community provided me as a young, first-generation college student, the education, skills and experience that have led to a successful career in private industry, higher education and public service," McGee said. "Now, it is my turn to give back, to ensure a strong and sustainable learning and working environment."

Said President Earl H. Potter III: "Tammy's years in the finance world in the private sector are a plus along with her more than 12 years in higher education."

Previously, McGee was a vice president at St. Catherine University, St. Paul, and at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. Her other experience includes stints at General Mills, Donaldson Company and H.B. Fuller in the Twin Cities and Mark VII Equipment and Colorado Chautauqua Association, both in Colorado.

A Walker area native, McGee has also been active in professional and volunteer affiliations serving as a governor's appointee to the Minnesota Higher Education Facilities Authority; a governor's appointee to the State of Minnesota Board of Medical Practice from 2007-2010; and a governor's appointee to the Metropolitan Airport Commission from 2003-2007.

She is also past chair of the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities Business Officer group, a consortium of five colleges collaborating to provide cooperative programs and services.

She currently is a committee chair of the Educational and Institutional Insurance Administrators and is a public member of the Coalition for Physician Accountability, a group of national organizations responsible for oversight, education and assessment of medical students and physicians throughout their medical careers.
