It had been a status the base had been trying to achieve since 2009, in part through the work the base's Risk Management Office has done in educating its work force on the risk management process and what employee safety responsibilities are.
"It's been a long journey .... (Our goal) is to make sure everyone is going home safe to their families after completing the mission," said Davis. "We are humbled and honored to make that vision (first sought in 2009) a reality today."
