March of Dimes Welcomes two New Members to its Board of Trustees

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., June 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Two business leaders from the insurance and child care industries have been elected to the March of Dimes national Board of Trustees. David Travers from Farmers Insurance and David H. Lissy of Bright Horizons Family Solutions were elected at Friday's board meeting. They join a distinguished group of more than 30 trustees who support the 73-year-old foundation. March of Dimes trustees, who serve as volunteers, represent the public in governing the organization and advancing its mission, and serve five-year terms.

"We're so pleased these dedicated volunteers with such different businesses experiences are working together with us to give more of America's babies a healthy start in life," said Dr. Jennifer L. Howse, president of the March of Dimes. "We rely on volunteers to share their business acumen and experience to support our mission."

David Travers is executive vice president of operations at Farmers Insurance, a position he has held since December 2009. He is responsible for all agent and customer interactions, with the exception of claims, which consists of 3,000 employees in seven locations. Prior, Mr. Travers served as senior vice president, service operations at Farmers. Mr. Travers received his bachelor's degree from Regis University in 1994, and he completed the Wharton Advanced Executive Education Program at the University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Cindy, have two grown children. Mr. Travers is a semi-professional saxophone player who specializes in blues, rock and country.

David. H. Lissy has been with Bright Horizons Family Solutions since 1997 and has served as the company's chief executive officer since January 2002. Bright Horizons is the world's leading provider of employer-sponsored child care early education and work/life solutions serving nearly 150,000 children and their families across the US, Europe and Canada and partnering with more than 800 employer clients. Before joining Bright Horizons, Mr. Lissy held several general management roles in the health care field with Aetna and U.S. Healthcare. Mr. Lissy is a graduate of Ithaca College. He is and his wife, Suzanne, have three children.
