Man charged in cutting incident [The Moultrie Observer, Ga.]

Dec. 12--MOULTRIE -- A Colquitt County man was arrested on assault charges after an acquaintance reported being cut during a Friday night incident at Regency Village, Moultrie Police Department reports said.

Jose Huerra of Moultrie reported that while walking in the first block of Regency Village Drive a man he knew as Jose tried to hit him with a car twice. After the second attempt, the man got out of a gray car and tried to cut him.

Huerra's sweater and shirt were cut near his stomach, police reports said. He also had several stab wounds to the left arm and a small cut to the stomach, and he was treated by Emergency Medical Service personnel.

Later, Huerra accompanied police and identified the car and Jose Meza at a residence on Circle Road.

Meza, 21, was charged with aggravated assault.

A woman at the residence where he was found told police that Huerra tried to hit Meza with a stick and that he was defending himself. Huerra identified another witness who saw the incident.

In other assaults:

--Diana Kastelic, 600 block Fourth Street Southwest, reported Thursday that a male relative choked her during an argument.

--Nekeisha Davis, Moultrie, reported Friday that a male acquaintance assaulted her during an argument in the 800 block of Sixth Street Northwest.

--Gabriel Virgil, Moultrie reported that a male relative attacked her at 1:48 a.m. at a friend's residence in the 500 block of Fifth Avenue Southeast.

Police were called to Colquitt Regional Medical Center, where Virgil was being treated for injuries that included bruising and cuts to the head, and cuts to the neck and hands and swelling on her right hand.

Colquitt County Sheriff's Office

--Delane Smith, 200 block C.O. Kennedy Road reported Saturday that he was attacked by several people accompanied by a family member who came to his residence at about 12:39 a.m.

A deputy called to a fight in progress at the residence found Smith with a large abrasion on his face and blood outside.

He reported that he had told the people to leave several times when one of them pulled his jacket over his head and he was beaten. A witness reported being pushed back inside the house when she went outside during the incident.

Scotty Long was detained in Thomasville by the Thomas County Sheriff's Office based on a description of a vehicle given by Smith.

Long, 37, 516 Glen Arven Drive, Thomasville, was charged with battery.

--Mario Gomez, 33, 605 Fifth Ave. S.E. Apt. C, was charged Sunday with probation violation and battery (family violence).

--Demetrius Williams, 32, 1620 Overlook Drive Lot 9, was charged Friday with probation violation.

--Kodi Milton, 32, 408 Fifth Ave. N.W., was charged Friday with theft by shoplifting.

--Eric Brown, 26, 1957 Sylvester Hwy. Lot 15, was charged Friday with probation violation.

--Anthony Edmonds, 32, was charged Friday with theft by shoplifting.

--Fred Robert Sheffield, 50, 531 Old Albany Road, was charged Friday with driving under the influence (refusal).

--Wesley Blake Strickland, 19, 4842 Ga. Hwy. 133 N., Doerun, was charged Friday with DUI under 21, open container and tag light violation

--Michael Jerome Edwards, 19, 104 Vinson St., was charged Sunday with disorderly conduct.

--Jeremy Jujuan Robinson, 18, 203 Fifth Ave. S.W., was charged Saturday with possession of alcohol by a minor and disorderly conduct.

--Eugene Reginald Clark III, 39, 526 Sixth Ave. N.W., was charged Sunday with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of marijuana, open container and loud music.

--Fred Robert Sheffield, 50, 531 Old Adel Road, was charged Friday with DUI.

Colquitt County Sheriff's Office

--Shannon Lee Bryant, 26, 356 T. Davis Road, Hartsfield, was charged Saturday with DUI, no insurance and failure to register vehicle.

--Ben Crawford Thomas II, 26, 1317 Murdock St., was charged Friday with DUI.

--Danny Albert Lewis, 40, 166 Briar Road, was charged Friday with probation violation.

--Jerry Delaner Cannon, 47, 143 Dandron Road, was charged Saturday with driving while license suspended and window tint violation.

--Matthew Carroll Craven, 24, 605 Old Adel Road was charged Friday with DUI and failure to maintain lane.

--Aaron Ray Jamerson, 25, 2109 Veterans Parkway S. Apt. C-15, was charged Sunday with habitual violator and driving without headlights when required.

Thefts

Moultrie Police Department

--Riane Adams, Tallahassee, Fla., reported Friday the theft of a check that was cashed at a store in Moultrie in the amount of $308.

--Jodie Marie Scala, Moultrie, reported Saturday the theft of a wallet from a 2011 Nissan Altima parked in the first block of Doc Darbyshire Road.

--Cheryl Trisko, 500 block Third Street Southwest, reported Saturday the theft of a Dell laptop computer valued at $1,520.

Colquitt County Sheriff's Office

--Carol Norman, 4800 block Lower Meigs Road, reported Saturday the theft of a 14-foot green aluminum Craft boat valued at $850.

--Colquitt County Landfill, Shade Murphy Road, reported Friday that an unknown amount of scrap metal was taken. The landfill was entered from an adjoining property, where the fence had been cut to gain access.

--Misty Rose Frazier, 200 block Sam Harrell Road, reported Saturday the theft of a Dell computer, Orion television, Sony gaming system, DVD player and hair straightener with a total value of $469.

--Suzanne Chastain, 200 block Dampier Road, reported Friday the theft from a residence in the 300 block of Mac Massey Road of an electric stove, aluminum step ladder, canvas tool bag and tools. The value of the stolen belongings was $120.

--James Beck, 1600 block Mallard Road, Sale City, reported Saturday that a male relative took and sold for scrap a homemade truck bed.

--Christopher Taylor, 2200 block Sylvester Drive, reported Sunday the theft of a purple and gold 18-speed bicycle valued at $90.

--Jean Adams, 100 block Walter Murphy Road, reported Saturday the theft of two lighted deer decorations valued at $50.

--Damien Serrata, 1800 block Tift County Line Road, Omega reported Saturday that a man in a Dodge 2500 extended cab pickup truck was on his property. When he approached the man, Serrate told the officer, he said he worked for Bank of America and was looking at property for sale.

--Rita Deberry, 4800 block Georgia Highway 33 North, reported Saturday that a male acquaintance came to the residence at 5 a.m. looking for Julie Yates, and when told she was gone took Yates' dog.

When contacted by an officer, the man allowed him to come pick up the dog because he was too intoxicated to return it himself. The dog was returned to Yates by the officer.
