Man arrested after Biloxi pursuit, crash was sought on felonies

Aug. 28--BILOXI -- Police said a man who was leading officers on a pursuit when he ran a red light and crashed into a another vehicle was wanted in burglaries at a casino and unrelated charges in Florida.

Police had identified Jeremy Shane Fogleman, 35, of Biloxi, as a suspect in recent burglaries at the Golden Nugget Casino, Detective Sgt. O'Neil Adams said.

An officer saw Fogleman Wednesday morning driving north on Oak Street near U.S. 90 and tried to stop him, but police said Fogleman fled, taking numerous side roads before his orange Dodge Charger broad-sided another vehicle at U.S. 90 and Beauvoir Road.

Police found him with multiple counterfeit checks and jewelry believed to be stolen, Adams said.

Fogleman also was wanted on felony warrants from the Fort Walton Beach Police Department.

He and a couple in the other vehicle were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police stood guard over Fogleman until he was discharged, then took him into custody.

Adams said the local burglaries remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Biloxi Police Department's criminal investigations division at 702-3112.

Police Maj. Jim Adamo said the pursuit through East Biloxi lasted 10 to 15 minutes.

Officers tried to stop the Charger by throwing out spike strips.

After the crash, a woman reported she ran over a spike strip and damaged her tires.

Adamo said the spike strip was out of the roadway but the woman's vehicle ran off the road at a curve and ran over the device. Her claim will be turned over to an insurance adjustor, he said.
