MDA 101: How to Use The Medical Disability Advisor in Disability Case Management; New Accredited On-Line Education Offered by Reed Group
WESTMINSTER, CO - December 7 - Reed Group, Ltd. announces the availability of its new, accredited on-line education course for occupational and non-occupational health case managers, nurse case managers, workers compensation claims adjusters, human resources professionals and other disability and workers compensation return-to-work specialists. The MDA 101 course, co-developed with Webility Corporation, is a self-paced interactive resource providing knowledge on the best practices for using disability duration guidelines and other resources in return-to-work case management. The on-line offering has been approved for up to two hours of continuing education credit by the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN), Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC), Certification of Disability Management Specialists Commission (CDMSC), and Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC).
For case management personnel, the new MDA 101 teaches them how to take advantage of the latest techniques for effective and real-time access to relevant disability management information while working with claimants. Learning how to use the new advanced search technologies in the MDA, and the evidence-based disability duration data in a fast and accurate manner is the basic instructional content of the course.
More advanced instruction includes important capabilities such as: how to read and utilize real, evidence-based normative disability data tables, utilize the Department of Labor Job Classification in interpreting the disability duration tables for individual guidance, rehabilitation and treatment guidelines, and instruction on failure to recover case management techniques.
For accurate healthcare administration, the new MDA 101 on-line offering includes training on how to access and read health information codes including ICD-9-CM, ICD-10, and AMA CPT(R) codes, all within the integrated code tables available in The Medical Disability Advisor.
"We are pleased to offer case managers a training resource that will help them be more accurate and effective in advising patients and practitioners on disability durations and related information. Delivering a non-adversarial experience is central to Reed Group's mission, and being able to share these techniques with case managers globally, is very gratifying. With this new class, we continue to build upon our position as the leading resource for disability and workers compensation management," says Dr. Presley Reed, Editor-in-Chief of The Medical Disability Advisor and Chairman/Chief Medical Officer of Reed Group.
Since 1991, acceptance of the MDA guidelines has continually expanded. More than 22,000 multinational customers throughout the US, Canada and in more than 30 other countries utilize The Medical Disability Advisor. It is widely recognized as the global leader in evidence-based, medical disability duration guidelines.
