LCC cruises against Edgerton

Lance Mihm, The Lima News, Ohio
By Lance Mihm, The Lima News, Ohio
McClatchy-Tribune Information Services

Sept. 13--Lima Central Catholic ran it up big in the first half and coasted from there in a 45-0 win over Edgerton.

Dmitri Floyd had five receptions for 163 yards and scored twice. Alex Krumel ran for two more touchdowns.

Ayersville 44, Perry 12

Perry held close for a quarter, but then the flood gates opened.

Dauson Dales was do it all, rushing for 192 yards, passing for 89, and added seven more yards receiving. Ayersville scored 37 of their 44 points in the middle two quarters.

Mikey McGuire added 117 yards passing for the Pilots as they ran 566 yards of total offense.

Plummie Gardner and John Hairston had great games in losing causes. Gardner threw for 244 yards and Hairston caught 10 passes for 139 yards and scored both touchdowns.

Delphos Jefferson 22, Bluffton 19

Special teams made the difference as went to 3-0 on the year.

Both teams scored three times, but Bluffton missed an extra point and failed to make up for it later in a fourth quarter two-point conversion try.

Mitchell Ault hit Clay Wilson for a score in the third quarter to give Bluffton a tight 19-14 lead going into the final quarter. Kurt Wollenhaupt answered it with a one-yard game-winning run with six minutes left in the game.

Wollenhaupt had 178 yards passing and ran for 240 to account for all of Jefferson's offense.

Spencerville 41, Allen East 14

Allen East hung tough for a half before Spencerville caught fire in the second half. The Bearcats finished the game by scoring 20 unanswered points in the second half.

The Spencerville ground game continued its early success, as three running backs topped the cnetury mark. Trevor McMichael ran for 134, Zach Goecke ran for 114 and Andrew Emery gained 102.

Kenton 26, St. Marys 7

St. Marys quarterback Dustin Howell ducked in from the one-yard line early in the fourth quarter and it seemed an upset may be in the making as the Rougriders led 7-6. However, the Wildcat offense finally woke up, scoring three touchdowns in a span of 3:47. Trent Hites passed for 289 yards for Kenton and Colyn Blackford had 179 receiving yards. Howell had 105 passing yards for St. Marys.

Ottawa-Glandorf 25, Celina 7

Zac Unterbrink passed for four touchdowns and 262 yards to lead the Titans to victory.

Guarding a narrow 12-7 halftime lead, Unterbrink's 47-yard strike to Brad Recker all but put the game away. Unterbrink added some insurance with a two-yard scoring pass to Zach Kuhlman for the final score.

Dan Godsil and Colin Laubenthal each had 10 tackles defensively for the Titans.

Crestview 56, Wayne Trace 32

Preston Zaleski ran wild, and when he wasn't he was passing just as effectively.

The Knight quarterback ran for 294 yards and passed for 155 in leading them to an easy win. He either passed or ran for the first six touchdowns in the game.

Columbus Grove 31, Ada 17

The Bulldogs found a way to win despite being out-gained by 50 yards and losing the turnover margin 4-2.

Joey Warnecke ran for 113 yards, with most of those coming on touchdown runs of 33 and 54 yards. He also kicked a 28-yard filed goal and four extra points for 19 of the Bulldogs' points.

Seth Conley had 218 yards passing for Ada. All of the Bulldog scores, came on big plays, as the other two scores were a 28-yard scoring pass and an 84-yard kickoff return.

Ridgemont 62, Hardin Northern 21

It is a rare thing to see a 200 yard rusher. A team having two in one game is nearly unheard of.

Ridgemont pulled that rare feat Friday. Justice McGue ran for 255 yards and Cameron Smith added 232 as the Gophers amassed 579 total yards. Each of them scored four times to account for all of Ridgemont's scoring.

Liberty Benton 48, Cory-Rawson 7

Austin Combs scored four rushing touchdowns and had another receiving as Liberty Benton went on to an easy win.

All five scores came in the first half as Liberty Benton took a 35-0 lead into the half. Cory-Rawson could not crack the scoreboard despite totaling 172 rushing yards. Combs had 134 rushing yards and quarterback Nathan Craft passed for 271.

Van Wert 23, Shawnee 7

Shawnee briefly took a 7-6 lead in the second quarter before the Cougars decided to apply heat.

Van Wert's defense clamped down while Van Wert methodically moved the ball on the ground for the rest of the game. The Cougars held Shawnee to only 103 total yards. Van Wert running back Justice Tussing beat that total on his own with 117 rushing yards and two scores.

St. Henry 43, Parkway 6

St. Henry put the game away in a hurry, running up a 41-0 lead by the half and instituting the new running clock rule for the second half. Parkway avoided the shutout by scoring in the games final minutes.

Anna 34, Fort Recovery 20

Fort Recovery had upset on their minds, taking a 20-13 lead into the half before the Rockets bounced back.

Trailing for much of the game, Anna finally tied it up when Ryan Counts hit Grant Glover for a score in the third period. Erik Bensman's punt return score and Matthew Bruce's rushing score in the final period gave the Rockets their final margin of victory.

Other scores: Paulding 45, Antwerp 15; Coldwater 28, Minster 17; Versailles 20, Delphos St. John's 7; Marion Local 63, New Bremen 7; Leipsic 41, North Baltimore 20; Mechanicsburg 48, Waynesfield-Goshen 0; Fort Loramie 43, Tinora 7.
