“FCIC has undergone a complete transformation since I first walked through the doors 35 years ago. Back then, the company did not own equipment such as computers, copiers, and mail machines. All documents were typed and carbon paper was used for carbon copies,” began Gettemans. “New applicants for insurance had to be referred by active policyholders in good standing to even be considered for insurance. The book of business consisted primarily of commercial auto, general liability, and workers compensation for ice companies and other related risks. Personal automobile was just a small portion of the overall operation,” Gettemans remarked.
Today, FCIC’s primary book of business lies in personal and commercial auto. Gettemans shared that since being named president in 1989 his primary focus has been to provide a good work environment for FCIC employees and provide an excellent source of insurance for the external clients that FCIC services. He retains a great deal of gratitude to everyone involved in moving FCIC forward into the 21st century.
Gettemans added, “The company’s philosophy has always been and continues to be a value provider to the people it serves. The company and its employees maintain a reputation of being respectful, responsive, and above all professional with all stakeholder interactions. Based on the longevity of my career at FCIC, it is evident that the company has been a huge part of my life. I look forward to being an essential leader as the company continues to prosper.”
