Intertek Buys Automation Technology [Manufacturing Close – Up]

Intertek Group, an international provider of quality services to a range of industries, announced that it has acquired ATI, a provider of asset integrity management software in the U.S. power sector.

In a release on April 5, Intertek said that ATI's asset management software solutions are used by owners and third party service providers of power generation infrastructure to record and analyse testing and inspection data. Its solutions help asset owners track infrastructure integrity and support the development of effective maintenance plans to reduce failures and optimise maintenance work during scheduled outage periods.

ATI's software solution, Aware, gives fossil energy infrastructure operators the ability to plan for future maintenance outages through analysis and documentation of failure and assessment information. Aware helps equipment owners manage asset integrity data throughout the assets life cycle through the utilization of various third party service providers to make decisions about maximizing asset objectives in today's changing power generation market.

With headquarters in California, USA, ATI complements Intertek's existing quality and integrity management services for owners and operators of power, oil, gas, petrochemical, renewable energy and other infrastructure and will form part of Intertek's Industry and Assurance division. Aware will supplement Intertek's expertise and engineering support in design, process safety, mechanical integrity, inspection and maintenance, operational and process support, corrosion, metallurgy and risk analysis.
