Thermal Integrity Profiler Wins 2013 C. William Bermingham Award for Innovation

The Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) announced the Thermal Integrity Profiler (TIP) as the winner of the 2013 C. William Bermingham Award for Innovation, which recognizes innovative contributions to deep foundation technology. The award was introduced in 2012 to recognize the innovative spirit of Bill Bermingham, a DFI Past President. TIP uses heat generated by hydrating cement to evaluate the integrity of cast-in-place concrete foundations such as drilled shafts, bored piles, augured cast-in-place piles, continuous flight auger piles, and drilled displacement piles. The technology can be used to evaluate the shape of jet grouted columns, diaphragms, slurry walls, and other concrete structures. Researchers at the University of South Florida initially developed the thermal integrity profiling technology. However, a joint effort undertaken by Foundation & Geotechnical Engineering, LLC, and Pile Dynamics, Inc., incorporated that technology into the TIP.
