Health insurance options for people with low income

April 17--ELMA -- Low-income individuals and families are still able to qualify and sign up for insurance through Washington Apple Health, the state's free insurance program.

A family of four with an annual income of $32,499 or less qualifies for free insurance, as one example of coverage. For those who need help with the application process or determining if they qualify, Summit Pacific Medical Center's Enrollment Specialist, Kayla Carson, can help. Interested individuals and families can stop by to talk with Carson, or call ahead to schedule a free appointment.

"Too many people in our area are living without health insurance, which puts their health and their finances at serious risk," Shauna DePrato, SPMC's Finance Manager shared, "We have worked diligently this past year to help those living without coverage get covered; so we are very excited to have Kayla on staff. She is highly knowledgeable about the enrollment process and will be a great resource for the community."

Those covered under a Washington Apple Health plan will receive coverage for primary care, emergency care, maternity care, mental health services, treatment for chemical or alcohol dependence, prescription medications, as well as some vision and dental benefits.
