Health Insurance is a Necessity
Consider the effects of losing health insurance coverage, even in times of rising health care coverage costs.
Whether it is due to the housing foreclosure crisis, job lay-offs or consumers’ mounting credit bills, reports have noted an increase in the number of people who are being pinched financially. Coinciding with this national problem is another national problem; the steady increase in health care coverage costs. In a spiraling economy, many consumers are finding it hard to keep up with medical bills without health insurance. As more laid-offs are expected this year, there is a guarantee that more people will lose their health insurance coverage.
A recent observation conducted by the think tank Center for American Progress shows that in a 14-month time period, more than 4 million American citizens have lost their health insurance policies. This means that more consumers will be unwilling to schedule regular doctor visits to cure preventable illnesses and conditions, which will result in a decline in their lifetimes. And if unemployment continues to rise, 7 million people or more are expected to lose their jobs and health insurance policies.
Although job loss is difficult and health costs are expensive, consumers everywhere must understand that they can still find affordable health insurance and not have to worry about out-of-pocket expenses. As the guide to purchasing health insurance discusses, with proper budgeting and limiting unneeded costs, consumers can find health insurance quotes at a reasonable price and save money. Health insurance is, after all, a necessity, not a luxury.
