GEICO’s Macon Office Awarded as 2012 Business of the Year [Manufacturing Close – Up]

In recognition for its efforts to expand the local economy and its ongoing community leadership, GEICO'sMacon office was named 2012 "Business of the Year" by the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce.

According to a release, for nearly 40 years, GEICO has supported the Macon region through economic growth, charitable contributions and community involvement.

GEICO's two regional operations centers in Macon are home to nearly 4,700 associates and those offices make up the largest GEICO contingent in the country.

"We have thousands of people at GEICO who have built satisfying careers by taking care of our policyholders for their sales, service and claims needs," said Mary Zarcone, GEICO regional vice president of Southeast operations in Macon, Ga. "We've grown because of their professionalism and integrity."

GEICO has been a supporter of several charities and community programs in and around Macon and central Georgia such as the Children's Hospital, American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life, Special Olympics, Ronald McDonald House, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The company is also a contributor to the United Way of Central Georgia, donating close to $1 million last year through fundraisers and community programs.

"As one of the largest private companies in the area, GEICO has an excellent reputation for serving the Macon community and its residents," said Scott Markel, GEICO regional vice president of Midwest operations in Macon, Ga. "This is a wonderful recognition for our associates and all that they give to the community on behalf of GEICO."
