Friends Life Care Honors the “Best of Friends” 2010 Award Winners

Plymouth Meeting, PA (PRWEB) November 17, 2010

Friends Life Care® a nonprofit Quaker organization that provides a unique alternative to long term care insurance hosts its 5th Annual Best of Friends Home Health Aide Awards today in Abington, PA. The ceremony honors the unsung heroes of the home care industry who demonstrate their professionalism by the quality of care they provide to members of Friends Life Care.

“Home health aides have really difficult jobs and I have found that they are typically very under appreciated. The program was founded five years ago on the concept that more recognition was a special way to say ‘thank you’ to those deserving aides who consistently went above and beyond the call of duty for the people they serve,” says Jane Storman, Director of Provider Relations, Friends Life Care.

Friends Life Care offers long term care protection by providing wellness programs, home health care, related personal-care services and facility care to enrolled members in the Philadelphia and Delaware areas. Individuals and couples become members of Friends Life Care in order to protect their independence, guard their financial security and gain peace of mind. All member care is provided and coordinated by a team of credentialed, carefully screened and selected professionals and Care Coordinators are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Best of Friends awards program supports the overall mission of Friends Life Care: to help people remain in their home as they age. It does so by supporting the care givers who provide dignity to Friends Life Care members and who help keep members feeling supported and safe during some of the hardest days and years of their lives.

“The nominees are an amazing group of individuals who care deeply about the people they serve. They make a tremendous difference in each member’s quality of life. Their compassion and dedication makes it possible for Friends Life Care to fulfill its mission of helping our members remain in their own homes,” says Carol Barbour, President, Friends Life Care.

A committee of Care Coordinators selected six winners from the field of nominees, three aides in the hourly category and three in the live-in category. In making its decision, the awards committee looked for those care givers who are rated highest by members in areas of attitude, dependability, problem-solving skills, communication skills, respect and dignity, personal appearance, and overall satisfaction. This year’s winners for the Friends Life Care “Best of Friends Awards 2010” are:

Hourly: First place, Shirley Sharper, Silver Lining; second place, Jane Mbevi, Special Care Lehigh Valley; third place, Lineth Porter, Silver Lining.

Live-in: First place, Daphne Pommells, Human Touch; second place, Hanna Adjei, Attentive care; third place (tie), Cynthia Shaw and Evelyn Clarke, Human Touch Home Care Options.

Winners receive awards from Friends Life Care in the following amounts:
First place $500; second place $300; third place $100. Every aide nominated, aside from the winners, receives a certificate of honorable mention and a $10 gift card.
