Fidelity Life Association is working with UNIVAL to offer a unique service to its customers applying for life insurance: customers will be given the option to have personal medical data associated with a life insurance application sent to their Microsoft HealthVault account.
Ann Arbor, MI (Vocus) January 26, 2010 -- Fidelity Life Association is now offering a unique service to its customers applying for life insurance: customers will be given the option to have personal medical data associated with a life insurance application sent to their Microsoft HealthVault account.
Developed by UNIVAL, this service converts the health information collected over the course of the life insurance application process into documents that can be stored in an individual’s HealthVault account. This gives customers access to medical information that may not have been readily available to them previously and enables these to be shared with healthcare providers if the customer chooses. Once customers opt into this service, they are able to take advantage of all the features and benefits offered by Microsoft HealthVault, a personal health application platform that allows users to store their health information and share it with trusted sources.
"We are pleased to be working with Fidelity Life and HealthVault on this important application," said Michael Gallagher, President of UNIVAL. "By offering this distinctive service, Fidelity Life is again positioning itself as a leader in their industry.”
“Fidelity Life has built a reputation for innovation by not requiring lab tests and medical exams when we can rapidly use electronic records to make underwriting decisions for coverage amounts under $300,000” said Ciaran Brady, vice president of operations for Fidelity Life Association. “Now, to issue larger face amount policies at competitive prices, we’re providing free exams and lab tests that the customer can take at their convenience. So why not empower them to create their own free Microsoft HealthVault accounts to manage this valuable information?”
“HealthVault was designed to give consumers a greater degree of control over their health information. Partners like UNIVAL help facilitate this process for people by digitizing documents that are otherwise scattered across the healthcare system,” said David Cerino, general manager for the Consumer Health Solutions Group at Microsoft Corp. “By partnering with UNIVAL, Fidelity Life is enabling its customers to contribute to their personal health history, providing individuals and their healthcare providers with more robust information on which to base health decisions.”
