Exer – More Than Urgent Care® Opens in Newbury Park

PR Web

Newbury Park, California (PRWEB) February 24, 2014

Just nine months after opening the second Exer – More Than Urgent Care clinic in Calabasas, a third location has opened in the Newbury Park area of Thousand Oaks. The first location was opened in Beverly Hills in 2007.

What makes Exer “more than urgent care”? Each Exer is staffed by board-certified Emergency Medicine doctors. The same expert physicians that patients wait hours to see in the hospital emergency room are now available at Exer urgent care clinics from 9am-9pm, 7 days a week with little or no wait at all.

In addition, each Exer center has an on-site pharmacy, diagnostic lab, digital X-ray machine, and a large menu of additional services, from sports physicals to travel vaccinations. They’re also impressively comfortable and easy on the eyes, having been designed by architect Gary Whitfield, who is best known for designing the award-winning Mini car dealerships around the country.

“When I left the Cedars-Sinai hospital emergency room, my goal was to create easy access to the best doctors at an affordable prices,” said CEO and founder Dr. Cherlin Johnson. “By putting board-certified ER physicians into retail clinics to treat all non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, we’re not only offering a great resource to our local communities but we’re also reducing the burden of our hospital emergency rooms so they can focus on life-threatening conditions. The response we’ve received from our patients and local healthcare communities has been overwhelmingly positive.”

With the current state of healthcare and health insurance in great flux, many patients are more sensitive to the cost of their care than ever. Exer – More Than Urgent Care clinics were specifically designed to not break the bank. Visits generally cost around the same as a visit to a standard urgent care clinic. They accept most PPO insurance, some HMO and ACO plans, and have very affordable cash prices for patients without insurance.

Why build an urgent care in Newbury Park? According to Dr. Johnson, “When we were looking at which market to open our second clinic in, we knew we wanted to be in Thousand Oaks, and we fell in love with Newbury Park. It’s a beautiful town with a lot of resources, but it was missing easy access to good healthcare. We think it’s the perfect place for Exer – More Than Urgent Care and we’re really looking forward to getting to know and helping out our new neighbors.”
