Daman introduces new functionalities to its online portal
Abu Dhabi, 14 Dec. 2009 /WAM/ - The National Health Insurance Company, Daman, the region's leading health insurer, has introduced a number of functionalities to its online health insurance portal launched earlier this year. The new functionalities will enable Daman's members to conclude many of their health insurance transactions online and offer general feedback.Daman's members can now submit and track online reimbursement claims for themselves and/or dependents and receive claims' settlements via automated bank transfers to their accounts or receive cheques by courier.Dr. Michael Bitzer, Daman's Chief Executive Office, commented: "We have introduced various functionalities to offer our members the facility of conducting their health insurance transactions online. With the simple completion of the online form and upload of required documents, our members can now submit reimbursement claims from the comfort of their homes and should expect feedback within 8 working days."Through the Medical Provider Search and Map service, members are now able to browse for medical providers by provider name, specialty, plan type, emirate/city and language. Medical providers can also be located on an interactive and dynamic map that offers driving directions. The portal also offers profiling of medical providers included within Daman's extensive network, thus, allowing members to examine providers' qualifications and history. Members can also rate the providers based on various rendered service attributes including time, quality, helpfulness and value for money. This will then allow members to benefit from the Provider Rating functionality which provides the option of searching for providers based on ratings.Daman's Chief Operating Officer, Axel Tettenborn commented, "Our online portal has received substantial online recognition for its design and content as it received PageRank 5 from Google Technologies and was rated A+ by CopyScape for original content, rated 'flawlessly viewable' following a color blindness test by AWARE Color Labs and was dubbed Excellent by Pingdom for its loading time."He added, "We will continue updating our online product services through introducing more functionalities and innovative services that serve to our clients' comfort and needs."Members will now be able to access Daman's portal from the ease of their palm using their mobile phones to track their claims, search for providers and request for customer service callback options. Through Daman's new Mobile Enhancement initiative the portal automatically detects access from a mobile device and will display a modified and user-friendly interface accordingly. The portal is best viewed on Blackberry and Apple iphone devices.Secure online claims' reimbursements can now be conducted by registered members following a free and simple registration process. Members who wish to process their claims online according to their schedule of benefits, need to complete the online claims' reimbursement form and submit it along with bank account details or cheque receipt address. Scanned copies of the original bills and/or medical prescriptions will also need to be uploaded.Members who have received treatment outside the UAE must verify their entry to the country abroad by uploading a copy of their passport that includes the entry stamp.Daman has launched its online health insurance portal in April 2009 and has since received an average of 6500 visitors a month which is an outstanding figure.
