NAPLES, Fla., Nov. 29 -- Collier County issued the following news release:
Construction is underway to replace the five boardwalks at Tigertail Beach along with the installation of a new dune walkover.
The project will be constructed in multiple phases allowing the public to maintain continuous access to the beach recreational area throughout the duration of the project which is contractually scheduled for eight months. The project includes the replacement of the existing five boardwalks and the installation of a new dune walkover at the furthest northeast portion of the site. The boardwalks/dune walkovers will be constructed using recycled reinforced plastic materials for the substructure, and Ipe lumber material for the decking and hand railings system.
A new restroom facility is also planned for the southern end of the Tigertail parking lot. The restroom will not be constructed until the city of Marco Island accepts the new flood insurance rate maps issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and approves the county's building permit application. Both projects are being funded by tourist development taxes.
