Choice Hotels International Appoints Barbara T. Alexander to Board of Directors [Professional Services Close – Up]

Choice Hotels International, Inc., a lodging franchisor, announced the appointment of Barbara T. Alexander, to its Board of Directors.

"We are pleased to add Barbara as a member of our corporate Board of Directors," said Stephen P. Joyce, president and chief executive officer. "Her knowledge of capital markets, corporate process and finance will be a tremendous asset to our experienced Board of Directors as we continue our efforts to grow Choice's presence both domestically and around the world."

According to a release, from October 1999 to January 2004, Alexander served as a Senior Advisor to UBS Warburg LLC and predecessor firms. Prior to that (1992 to 1999), Alexander was the Managing Director of the North American Construction and Furnishings Group in the Corporate Finance Department of UBS. In this position, she was an analyst and an investment banker covering the homebuilding industry, among other industries.

In addition to her background in corporate finance, Alexander brings vast experience in corporate boards to Choice. She currently serves as a director of KB Home, Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, Ltd. and QUALCOMM Inc. and has previously served as a director of Burlington Resources Inc., Centex Corp., Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. (Freddie Mac), and Harrah's Entertainment Inc.

In 2003, Alexander was selected as one of seven Outstanding Directors in Corporate America by Board Alert magazine and was one of five Director of the Year honorees in 2008 by the Forum for Corporate Directors.

Alexander will serve on Choice's Audit committee.
