Cheshire County grand jury indicts man accused of sexually assaulting children

Sept. 04--A Stratham man previously convicted of sexually assaulting four young girls in Rockingham County was indicted last week by a Cheshire County grand jury for allegedly abusing three of the same girls in Jaffrey, according to court documents.

Ronald L. Mattheson Sr., 67, whose address is listed as the N.H. State Prison in Concord, is charged with two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and one count of felonious sexual assault.

Mattheson, formerly of Jaffrey, is accused of sexually assaulting three girls, who were under the age of 13, according to indictments. He assaulted two of the girls in Jaffrey in 2005 and engaged in a pattern of abuse against a third girl in the town from 2002 to 2007, according to indictments.

Mattheson knew the alleged victims, according to Assistant Cheshire County Attorney John Webb. He was recently convicted in Rockingham County Superior Court of sexually assaulting the same three girls in a separate case prosecuted by that county's prosecutors, Webb said.

The Rockingham case involved a fourth victim, according to Webb.

Jaffrey Police Chief William J. Oswalt said Wednesday that his department began investigating Mattheson after receiving a phone call from a parent of one of the girls in August 2013. That parent had already spoken with police officers in Stratham and Lincoln, Mass., about their probes of Mattheson, Oswalt said.

Mattheson is currently serving 12 to 30 years in state prison after pleading guilty in Rockingham County Superior Court to multiple sexual assault charges, according to court records. If Mattheson serves the maximum sentence on those charges, he would be behind bars until 2045.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt; it is a determination that prosecutors have enough evidence to move forward with a trial.

Other recent indictments include:

--Casey Gray, 20, of Sullivan is charged with one count each of felonious sexual assault and attempted felonious sexual assault.

Gray is accused of sexually assaulting a girl who was between 13 and 16 years old at the time, according to indictments.

The alleged assaults occurred between Dec. 1, 2013, and Feb. 1, 2014, in the region.

--Matthew D. Cannon, 37, whose address is listed as the Cheshire County jail in Keene, is charged with four felony counts of tampering with witnesses and informants, for trying to interfere with court testimony, according to indictments.

He also faces seven misdemeanor counts of violation of a protective order.

The charges stem from alleged violations in Keene in July and August.

--Bryon Bouchie, 30, whose address is listed as the Cheshire County jail, is charged with attempted burglary.

Bouchie is accused of burglarizing a home on Centennial Road in Gilsum on Aug. 23, 2013, according to indictments.

--Dana L. Mayotte, 39, of Hinsdale is charged with theft in Keenebetween May 1 and July 2.

Mayotte is accused of taking pills from Rite Aid, where she was employed, according to indictments.

--Nathan B. Taylor, 32, of Winchendon, Mass., is charged with one count each of theft by unauthorized taking and attempted theft by unauthorized taking.

He is accused of stealing meat products from Price Chopper in Keene in May and June, according to indictments.

Taylor also faces a misdemeanor charge of theft by unauthorized taking, for stealing burritos from a freezer case at the grocery store, according to indictments.

--Michael Liebl, 46, of Warner is charged with theft by misapplication of property in Keene between May 1, 2012, and July 31, 2012.

While employed as a State Farm insurance agent, Liebl claimed insurance premium payments of more than $1,500 as his own, when they were supposed to be for the benefit of State Farm customers, according to indictments.

--Justin Holland, 23, whose last known address is Keene, is charged with one count each of theft by unauthorized taking and receiving stolen property.

He is accused of stealing from Centerfold Laundromat in the city between June 5 and June 7, according to indictments.

--Ryan Youngman, 22, of Swanzey is charged with forgery May 27 in Keene, for altering and then cashing a company check he was not authorized to handle, according to indictments.

He also faces a misdemeanor count of theft by unauthorized taking in the city that day.

--, 19, whose last known address was Hinsdale, is charged with possession of cocaine June 10 in Swanzey.

--Joshua Conboy, 28, whose last known address was the Cheshire County jail, is charged with one felony count of possession of cocaine.

He also faces misdemeanor counts of possession of drugs in a motor vehicle, driving after license suspension and disobeying an officer in connection with an incident June 10 in Swanzey.

--Brian Houle, 25, of Keene is charged with one felony count of possession of heroin May 5 in Winchester.

He also faces violations for having drug paraphernalia in the town that same day, according to indictments.
