Cal Inspection Bureau’s Emil Moskowitz Becomes First Insurance Vendor Elected to CIWA Board of Directors

In June of this year, the President of Cal Inspection Bureau, Emil Moskowitz, was honored to become the first insurance industry vendor ever to be elected to serve as a member on the prestigious Board of Directors of the California Insurance Wholesalers Association (CIWA).

To get some more information on this special honor, we spoke with John Mundelius of Union General Insurance Services, Inc. and past President of CIWA. "Originally CIWA was a wholesalers-driven organization that was open only to wholesalers, but we started to talk about having participation of vendors and companies that write business. However, there was no provision in the bylaws for them to have a voice." In order to strengthen the organization, CIWA historically voted to update its bylaws to include a vendor for the first time.

"When talking about nominations," John pointed out, "we were unanimous that Emil Moskowitz of Cal Insurance Bureau, Inc. should be that person. He does so much already for the organization - not ever as self-promotion for CIB - but always (for years) for the improvement of CIWA and for all vendors as a whole."

John added that they feel very lucky to have Emil on the Board. "It was a slam-dunk and a great decision on our part."
