CONGRESSWOMAN MATSUI STATEMENT ON THE RETIREMENT OF GEORGE MILLER
Federal Information & News Dispatch, Inc.
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) issued the following statement on Congressman George Miller's (CA-11) announcement that he will not seek reelection this fall:
"I have known George Miller for years, and it has been an honor to witness his work on behalf of his district, California, and the American people. During my time in Congress, George has been a close friend, a trusted colleague, and a passionate ally. Whether working together to ensure that all Americans have access to affordable, quality health insurance, or to ensure that northern California's interests are recognized in the Bay Delta Conservation Plan, George has always been an extremely knowledgeable and passionate advocate.
"Never one to shy away from an important issue, his accomplishments are many and have greatly improved the lives of children and working families in America. Whether it was raising the minimum wage, or ensuring that children with special needs be provided a free and appropriate public education, there is no question that George has left his mark on our nation.
"With his decision to retire from the halls of Congress, his counsel and knowledge will be missed by the entire House of Representatives. I have enjoyed working closely with George and wish him and his family nothing but the best for the future."
