Brisbane Gynaecologist and Obstetrician, Doctor Macbeth Launches New Intermediate Care Service

PR Web

Brisbane, Queensland (PRWEB) October 16, 2013

Intermediate Obstetrics is private obstetric care for uninsured patients and can prove to be extremely cost effective, (according to Doctor Macbeth).

Doctor Matt Macbeth trained at the Royal London Hospital and London University in the United Kingdom.

He successfully completed his training to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Australia & New Zealand Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Melbourne.

Doctor Macbeth moved to Australia in 1997 and established the Brisbane based Obstetrics and Gynaecology centre, Bayside Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

“We are delighted to now be able to offer this specialised care. Your entire pregnancy can be cared for in private rooms where combined midwife and Obstetrician care is available. Your delivery will then take place in a public hospital but with your private Obstetrician present for your delivery. This ensures your safety and makes sure your birth wishes are met,” announced Doctor Macbeth.

“Bayside Obstetrics and Gynaecology, in combination with The Bayside Birth Centre midwives (who are all working within one private practice) are now offering this intermediate care pathway. You can have all the benefits of private antenatal care, with access to physiotherapy and other treatments,” added Doctor Macbeth.

“Pilate’s classes, a dietician and small, intimate, antenatal classes are all included but without the initial cost of private health insurance cover. Guaranteed one-to-one personal care during your delivery (with me) ensures both you and your baby will be safe and your birth experience will be a positive one,” said Doctor Macbeth.

“In my opinion the old Obstetric ways are the best Obstetric ways. If you go back ten to fifteen years this care option was very popular. It really only died out because Obstetricians became entirely public (or private) and could no longer offer this combined care pathway,” recalls Doctor Macbeth.

“I know times are harder these days and everything is more expensive. You would hope that this economic state wouldn’t affect the quality of treatment received by pregnant women but I believe it is affected,” added Doctor Macbeth.

“The care offered to pregnant women has disappointingly become about the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’. You’re either insured for Obstetrics and receive private care or you’re not and you will be seen at the local public hospital,” said Doctor Macbeth.

“Private Obstetric insurance cover costs around $1500 per year. With the majority of policies you can’t take advantage of the private cover unless you have had it for a minimum of one year before giving birth. You can be at least $1500 to $2000 out of pocket before you receive any treatment. Costs generally run from $2000 to $3000 annually after birth,” advises Doctor Macbeth.

“The public hospital system is of a good standard but the reality is generally you will never know your midwife or doctor personally and the waiting times at clinics can be long. Your can be left feeling anonymous and vulnerable as a result,” advises Doctor Macbeth.

“Our new service costs substantially less than the average Private Obstetric insurance policy and includes the high level of treatment and care you would expect from a private hospital,” ended Doctor Macbeth.

For more information visit the Bayside Obstetrics website or call one of their helpful receptionists on 07 3163 7424.
