Brain Research Foundation Announces 2011 Frederick A. Gibbs Awards Recipients

CHICAGO, Oct. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Brain Research Foundation (BRF) today announced that the 2011 recipients of the Frederic A. Gibbs award will be Virginia and Norman Bobins and Aon Corporation. Virginia and Norman Bobins will receive the Philanthropic Leadership Award, recognizing their many years' commitment and outstanding fundraising efforts for neurological research.  

"Virginia and Norm recognize the challenges faced by the many families affected by neurological disorders," stated Terre Constantine, Ph.D., Executive Director of BRF. "In his role as Vice President of the Board of BRF Norm does all he can to ensure that these families are equipped to meet these challenges. Norm is assisted in an extraordinary way by his wife Virginia and they are deserving of this award."

Aon Corporation will receive the Discovery Award For Community Service. Aon is being honored for its commitment to service and a firm-wide culture of giving back.

The award is named for Dr. Gibbs, a neurologist who helped found the Brain Research Foundation in 1953. He was a pioneer on the use of electroencephalography (EEG) for the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy.  Norm Bobins is the Non-executive Chairman of The PrivateBank and Trust Company.  Aon is a leading global provider of risk management services. Norm and Virginia Bobins and Aon President and Chief Executive Officer Greg Case will be presented the Frederick A. Gibbs awards November 1 at the BRF's Annual Discovery Dinner.
