BRIEF: Rocori board approves teacher contract

April 15--The Rocori school board unanimously approved a two-year teacher contract at its meeting Monday night.

The contract for 2013-15 represents a 6.95 percent increase in cost to the district over two years. The contract will cost the district $228,550 in 2013-14 and $288,955 the following year.

"We used a different process this year," Superintendent Scott Staska said.

The district used interest-based bargaining, which made the process a mediation session, Staska said.

"An interest-based resolution is supposed to start from a broader perspective," Staska said.

Teachers will receive an additional $600 toward health insurance premiums in 2013-14.
